This course is aimed at preparing potential yudansha candidates and teachers for future gradings. The course is open to students 2nd kyu or above and the basic outline of the course (as taken from the UKA website is as follows:
General class aimed at 2nd kyu and above
Mock gradings for those who volunteer (please inform interest at the start of the day).
Feedback session for students and teachers.
Weapons class, to standardise weapons teaching.
The course is scheduled to last 4 hours and will cost £10.

The first UKA national course of 2019 will be held at Ren Shin Kan dojo on the 20th January. The teaching schedule is as follows:

2018 will mark Philip Smith’s 50 Anniversary in Aikido. Philip began training as a junior in 1968 at the age of nine years old. He joined as a member of the Aikikai of Great Britain and in 1970 he began training with T K Chiba Shihan obtaining his Shodan (1st Dan) in 1976 at the age of 17.
Philip Smith is now a 7th Dan Shihan awarded by Hombu dojo in Japan, and one of the senior instructors of the United Kingdom Aikikai (UKA). He teaches regularly at Ren Shin Kan Dojo, on UKA national courses, and at the annual UKA Summer School.

Anyone wishing to train with the students at Airenjuku are welcome to travel down themselves or contact Philip Smith for details on who is going as ride sharing may be available.
The annual general meeting for Ren Shin Kan is scheduled to take place on the 24th May at 19:30-20:30 this places it between the 2 evening classes.
